Sargood Street Altona
Squillace Nicholas Architects

Glossop Town Planning was engaged by Squillace Nicholas Architects to provide planning advice for a 14 dwelling, four storey apartment building built over a basement car park in Sargood Street, Altona. The site was zoned Residential 1 and located in a Major Activity Centre, close to the Altona Railway Station and Pier Street shops.
Glossop Town Planning prepared a report which was submitted to Council as part of the permit application. This report provided planning support for the development, based on the site’s context and the overarching policy context for the surrounding area. Council supported the development; however, an objector lodged an appeal with VCAT.
John Glossop acted as advocate on behalf of the permit applicant at the appeal and called evidence in relation to urban design, traffic and car parking, landscape design and vegetation protection. The Tribunal affirmed Council’s decision and directed that a permit be issued.
